Genuine plate hulls such as Ally Plate are constructed using a higher grade of aluminium sheet, stronger and more rigid then the 'pressed' grade used by some aluminium manufacturers whose hulls masquerade as 'plate' hulls.
The benefits of a plate hull over its 'pressed' predecessor are many and varied, so it is most important you consider very carefully what your particular 'predominant guise of boating' will be - before you choose a certain style and construction of boat. If your boating interests are river or sheltered estuary work then the pressed examples will suffice most adequately- that after all is what that syle of aluminium boat was purposefully designed for.
If however your passion is 'bluewater' work or if you happen to boat in a notoriously rough stretch of estuary waterway, then you owe it to yourself to purchase an appropriate vessel, best suited to those more 'serious' boating conditions. The by-products of this extra weight are a boat that will knife through the waves in much the same way a 'well mannered' GRP boat will, rather than bouncing over them, there is substantially less banging and crashing in the bigger seas, the ride is seemingly more 'docile' in nature, and the ride is also significantly quieter.
Because of their design and construction methods ALLY PLATE hulls are more accurate in construction and because ALLY CRAFT are able to add additional pressings within the bottom sheets of the hull, the ride and directional stability at speed is more accurate and as such, entirely predictable .
